Disconnection: Elastica Split!

NME is confirming today the rumour we've been hearing for months: ELASTICA are no more. Justine Frischmann, speaking to the British weekly, has confirmed that the band have split. A farewell single and Peel Session releases are in the works for later this year, and Justine mentions an as-yet-unnamed new project in the future.

Elastica's "Second Coming"

ELASTICA have set another date on their second album, reports NME. Apparently the record will be released in March on Deceptive. An insinder says the album is, "very moody and minimal with not much in the way of pop songs."

Geffen Drops Elastica

Geffen has finally dropped Elastica. They were bought out by Universal and have been dropping artists since, so this comes as no surprise. Elastica have finished recording their second album (after 6 years) and have not issued a statment.

Donna Leaves Elastica

Well, its official -- DONNA MATTHEWS has left ELASTICA. Rumours have been long circulating about a massive rift between Matthews and Justine Frischmann being the cause of the nearly half decade wait for Elastica's sophomore release.

Elastica Updates

It appears as though the on/off status of ELASTICA may be on again. As we reported earlier, rumours of the band's demise had been traced to Elastica frontwoman Justine Frischmann herself. Now comes word that the band have settled their differences and are putting the final touches on their sophomore album. Speaking last week to USA, Uber-producer Marc Waterman (one of four to work on the Elastica record) said that 17 tracks were planned for inclusion on the record, with additional b-sides (including a cover of Trio's "Da Da Da") also in the can.

Elastica Split

With good news comes a dose of bad. NME is reporting this week that they have confirmation on the demise of ELASTICA. Rumours of the split have dogged the band all year -- Donna Matthews has been involved with a new group, while sources say that Justine and Donna havn't spoken to one another all year. NME revealed this week that one of their writers heard straight from Justine that the band were finished.
