The Gossip and The Breeders also head for Irish festival

Franz Ferdinand, Sex Pistols and Sigur Ros have been confirmed for Ireland's Electric Picnic 2008 festival.

Acts also joining them at the event, held at Stradbelly Hall in County Laois between August 29-31, will be My Bloody Valentine, , The Breeders and CSS.

Bright Eyes' Conor Oberst will also play a solo set at the festival, which last year hosted performances from Beastie Boys, Bjork, Manic Street Preachers and Sonic Youth.

The acclaimed Jazz And World Music Stage, The International Comedy Club and The Body And Soul Village will make a reappearance at this year's event.
