MySpace's Worst-Kept Secret: Gnarls Barkley Hits Big Apple
MySpace is planning a serious overhaul of its music initiative, one that includes major label equity stakes, tightly-integrated content, and stepped-up ecommerce. But the social networking giant is already an important stop for music fans and bands, and several music-related initiatives have been floating for years.
That includes the Secret Show, a long-running series that is now approaching its 150th engagement. The insider concept offers exclusive access to gigs for friends of a band.
In that spirit, the upcoming show involves return artist Gnarls Barley, slated to perform in New York on June 8th. That hardly sounds like a secret, though MySpace is still withholding critical details like the venue. The series first started in February, 2006.
